A very cold and windy winter wedding for Katie & Matt. However we had the lovely atmosphere of the Coltsfoot Country Retreat to shelter from the vagaries of the seasonal weather. With it’s welcoming log fire ablaze and the cosy bar the wedding quests soon settled in and enjoyed the welcoming hospitality at Coltsfoot.
Katie prepared for the day ahead at her mother’s house in Aston Clinton before heading down into Hertfordshire for the wedding ceremony. Piano Paul provided the musical accompaniment during the day. In the evening some of the quests braved the winter weather outside with sparklers and I managed to get Katie and Matt outside for a shot in the moonlight. I chose to use my white umbrella to add some reflected light from a flashgun that Matt was holding. Unfortunately immediately after the photograph you see here there was a tremendous blast of icy wind that completely destroyed the umbrella! So with my off camera flash technique brought to an abrupt halt we headed back into the warmth for the speeches, cake cutting and first dance.
Congratulations to Katie & Matt, a lovely couple who I know thoroughly enjoyed their winter wedding day.
Here is more Hertfordshire Winter Wedding Photography. This time at Knebworth House at Christmas time. More and more couples are choosing to have a winter wedding. For the wedding photographer there are different challenges to a summer wedding. Light is obviously the main challenge or lack of it in most cases. The daytime will be shorter and of course the weather will be colder! However this Hertfordshire wedding photographer enjoys the challenge whatever the weather! Fill in this simple form if you are planning a winter wedding and I will get back to you with more information.
